Principals, Business Leaders Celebrate CEOs in Schools Success Stories and Plan for the 2022 In-School Event

TAMPA, Fla. – (October 11, 2022) – On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, nearly 300 local business leaders and Hillsborough County Public Schools principals will come together for the 4th annual CEOs in Schools Kickoff Reception. The gathering gives principals and their paired volunteer CEOs an opportunity to plan for the in-school event on November 4th, when 150 Tampa Bay area executives will spend a day in public elementary schools across the county.

Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF), in partnership with Vistra Communications (Vistra) and Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS), encourages CEOs and senior executives to get involved with their future workforce. This one-day, unforgettable, hands-on learning experience provides business leaders with a chance to learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing students, teachers and administrators in public schools every day. CEOs can also share their knowledge with principals (the CEOs of our schools) and serve as role models for our next generation of professionals.

Speakers at the Kickoff Reception include U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, Hillsborough County Public Schools Superintendent Addison Davis, Hillsborough County School Board Chair Nadia Combs and Hillsborough Education Foundation CEO Kim Jowell. Two principal/CEO pairs will also share how they have forged successful relationships through the innovative initiative that positively impact students and schools year-round. This video at Anderson Elementary School with Ben Burgess, Owner of Burgess Civil, and Principal Lydia Sierra is one example.

Members of the media are invited to attend these upcoming CEOs in Schools events:

  • Kickoff Reception: October 12th at 3 p.m., TPepin’s Hospitality Center, 4151 N. 50th Street in Tampa.
  • CEOs in Schools in-school volunteer event: Media opportunities will be available at select schools. Please let us know in advance if you are interested in visiting a specific school.

Around 10 schools are still in need of a volunteer. Business leaders who are interested in participating are asked to reserve a school at CEOsinSchools.com.

For interested media, interviews/video opportunities can be arranged with a CEO and principal. Photos and video of the Kickoff Reception are also available by request.
