The Tremendous Loss of a Local Champion for Children

When Cyrus (Cy) Spurlino recently passed away, he left behind a lasting impact on HEF and our community through his generosity, kindness and contagious smile that will be greatly missed.

During his life, Cy and Joanne Spurlino donated $750K+ to HEF through their charitable foundation to support students and teachers by providing funding for school supplies, classroom enrichment grants and so much more.

Mentor’s Can Change a Student’s Life and Our World

Mentoring has the power to transform lives. Pairing an adult role model with a student in our mentoring program shows there is someone who cares about them, assures they are supported in facing obstacles in school and in life and opens the doors of opportunity for underserved kids who may just need some guidance on their paths to success.

January is National Mentoring Month and a special time to thank our wonderful volunteers who make a huge difference for their mentees by giving a little bit of time.

Check out the power of mentoring.
