College Scholarship Resources

College Scholarship Resources You Can Find with the Hillsborough Education Foundation

College can be expensive, but scholarships can help to cover part, or even all, of a student’s college tuition. The Hillsborough Education Foundation is committed to helping make higher education more accessible to all students in the community through sharing invaluable resources – and providing scholarship opportunities for well-deserving students to achieve their academic goals.

Senior Scholarships

One of the best ways to make college less daunting is to have a scholarship to help cover college costs, from tuition to books and other expenses. The Hillsborough Education Foundation provides numerous scholarships for graduating high school seniors in Hillsborough County.

These scholarships range in requirements and recognize academic achievement, community service, and leadership, as well as cater to different academic interests, career aspirations, and personal backgrounds. These scholarships reward students who have demonstrated excellence throughout their high school experience, and the financial aid provided can make a significant difference in managing college costs.

Take Stock In Children

Take Stock in Children is a unique scholarship and mentoring program aimed at helping low-income students achieve academic success and attend college. H Take Stock in Children provides students with scholarships, mentors, and support services from middle school through college graduation. In this program, students are paired with mentors who provide guidance, support, and encouragement throughout their time in high school.

At the end of the program, participants can receive a Take Stock in Children scholarship to cover the cost of tuition for a Florida state college or university, in addition to other resources, including college readiness workshops and career exploration opportunities.

Florida Bright Futures Scholarship

While the Hillsborough Education Foundation proudly offers its own scholarships, it’s also important for students to explore state-funded opportunities like the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. Bright Futures provides scholarships to Florida residents based on high school academic achievement. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, including GPA, standardized test scores, and community service hours. The funds can be used at any eligible Florida public or private postsecondary institution, and scholarships can be renewed each year, so long as the student maintains the required academic standards in their college courses.
