Helen Gilbart

For decades, education has played an important role in Helen’s life. The Tampa retiree taught classes and administered programs at St. Petersburg College for more than 20 years. She understands that higher education is instrumental in providing a world of opportunities for young people, especially our less fortunate students. That’s what inspired her to become a mentor in our Take Stock in Children program. She is dedicated to supporting students and leaving a legacy for years to come through a planned gift to Hillsborough Education Foundation.

“Money shouldn’t be a factor that holds students back from higher education,” says Gilbart. “I didn’t go to college until after I was married, because I didn’t have the means when I was younger. It was a game changer for me. I want to provide deserving students with the same opportunity.”
