Unlocking Potential Through Mentoring: HEF’s Take Stock in Children Program

Mentoring is a powerful catalyst for change and Hillsborough Education Foundation is calling on our community to help transform students’ lives.

This year, HEF’s Take Stock in Children mentoring program welcomed 80 bright young minds, brimming with potential and determination. These students, facing various challenges, have embarked on a journey toward educational success, with the support of this initiative. But there’s still a crucial piece of the puzzle missing: you.

Mentors play a pivotal role in the lives of these budding scholars. They provide guidance, encouragement and listening ears to help students navigating the often-complex path of education. They instill confidence and a sense of purpose, empowering students to believe in themselves and their dreams.

Currently, there is a need for approximately 40 mentors to match with these deserving students. Your decision to volunteer can be a life-changing moment for both you and your mentee.

What Does Being a Mentor Entail?

As a mentor, you will meet with your mentee for just 30 minutes a week on average, providing guidance, setting goals and building a trusting relationship that extends beyond the classroom.

While you help your mentee navigate through their educational journey, you’ll also gain valuable insights into their world, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges they face and the potential they possess.
